EXIF cleaner
EXIF is a metadata structure commonly used to store information about how and when an image was created.
File Meta Cleaner detects and removes the complete supported EXIF container from JPG/JPEG and PNG images. If a valid GPS structure is present inside EXIF, it is reported separately as GPS metadata. Standard XMP and JPEG comments, or other supported PNG metadata chunks, are also removed when detected.
The image is processed locally in your browser. JPEG pixel data is copied without re-encoding, while PNG image and colour-management data are preserved.
FAQ
The tool removes a detected EXIF APP1 segment from JPG/JPEG or a detected eXIf chunk from PNG. EXIF can contain camera details, timestamps, software information, descriptions, and GPS data. The results list only supported categories that are actually detected.
Yes. The tool detects valid GPS metadata inside a supported EXIF structure and removes it with the EXIF container. You can learn more and try the GPS metadata cleaner on its dedicated page.
No. JPG/JPEG image data is not decoded or re-encoded, and PNG image-data chunks are preserved. The visible image, dimensions, and original file format remain unchanged.
No. Detection, cleaning, and verification take place locally in your browser. The application does not upload the selected image for processing.
The cleaner removes only the supported EXIF and related metadata categories it detects and verifies. Unknown or unsupported structures are not reported as removed.
